Build-Operate-Transfer(BOT)
A Build-Operate-Transfer arrangement has a partner build and run an offshore team, then transfer it to the client's own entity once it is established. It is a bridge between using a service provider and owning a captive centre.
Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) is an offshore engagement model where a partner builds and runs an offshore team or center for an initial period - typically 12-24 months - sourcing talent from a wide local pool, before transferring full ownership (people, processes, infrastructure) to the client. This lets a company de-risk market entry and avoid the upfront capital and regulatory burden of a pure captive setup, while still ending up with full long-term ownership.
BOT adoption has grown substantially: Everest Group reports BOT-style setups have risen from under 10% of new Global Capability Centers a few years ago to roughly 40% today, as companies increasingly prefer a partner-assisted path to eventual full ownership over either a pure vendor relationship or a pure captive build.
